Google has officially launched the Pixel Watch 5 alongside the Pixel 11 series, in 41mm and 45mm sizes. Right alongside the Pixel 11 phones at today's Made by Google event in New York City, Google officially took the wraps off the Pixel Watch 5. On the surface, it looks nearly identical to last year's Pixel Watch 4 — same domed Actua 360 design, same round AMOLED display. The domed Actua 360 display carries over largely unchanged in shape, but brightness jumps to a claimed 3,000 nits peak — making it noticeably easier to read outdoors than the Pixel Watch 4. It's a 320 PPI AMOLED LTPO panel with an adaptive 1–60Hz refresh rate, protected by custom 3D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The case is made from recycled aluminum, and the strap material switches to a softer-touch HNBR band. Both sizes keep IP68 dust/water resistance and a 5 ATM rating for swimming.
Performance
Under the hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 "Accelerated" chip paired with a Cortex-M55 co-processor — Google says this delivers about 12% more compute and roughly 20% faster on-device AI processing than the Pixel Watch 4. RAM rises 50%, from 2GB to 3GB, and storage doubles from 32GB to 64GB — the biggest hardware jump of this generation, and the headroom needed to run Gemini locally on the watch itself.
Gemini Intelligence
This is the Pixel Watch 5's headline software feature. Raise your wrist and you can talk to Gemini directly, without pulling out your phone. It also passively reads context from your notifications, messages and calendar to proactively surface useful information — for example, pulling up a restaurant a friend just mentioned in a text. Google has also added generative, on-demand watch faces created by Gemini, and Wear OS 7's "At a Glance" gets a meaningful refresh alongside it.
Health Guardian & Safety
Google's new Health Guardian suite is built around passive, automatic monitoring rather than data you have to check yourself. It includes an industry-first automatic breathing-emergency detection feature, monthly wellness trend summaries covering blood pressure and metabolic health signals, improved sleep tracking, and a claimed 2x more accurate GPS than the Pixel Watch 4. Safety features carry over and expand: Loss of Pulse Detection (which can automatically call emergency services), Satellite SOS for off-grid areas, Fall Detection, Car Crash Detection, Safety Check and Emergency Sharing.
Battery & Charging
Battery capacity grows slightly — 332mAh on the 41mm (up from 325mAh) and 465mAh on the 45mm (up from 455mAh) — good for a claimed 30 hours on the 41mm and 40 hours on the 45mm, both with the always-on display active. Google says the watch can recover 15 hours of battery from just 15 minutes on the optional Quick Charge Dock.
Colors & Special Edition
New color options include Fog, Canyon (41mm exclusive) and Olive, alongside a new Pyrite case finish. Google is also selling a Stephen Curry Special Edition (45mm only, $579) with an exclusive sweat-wicking performance loop band.
